1.00Can my gutters be replaced without replacing my roof?
Q.My roof is in great shape. We have two layers of roofing on it, but had it inspected and has another 10+ years in it. My gutters however are rusting through. Because my city requires a drip guard with gutter installation I cannot find a licensed contractor who will replace my gutters because it will damage my roof when they install the drip guard. Anyone with ideas of how I can get around this without having to pay $10k for a new roof when I don't need to?
A.You should start of by contacting a local guttering company. A experienced guttering company will be able to replace and repair your gutters without causing damage to your roof. Without a proper guttering system, your home’s foundation, driveways, walkways and landscaping could be damaged. Additionally, faulty installation can lead to roof system damage and more. Best of luck!
1.00Termites and home additions?
Q.We have to put a new roof on our house while at the same time we know that we have drywood termites. Our home has hardwood floors, wood paneling and wood beam ceiling in our den. A new roof is going to be going in, should we termite AFTER the new roof to treat the new installation or go ahead and termite now since our roof won't probably go until September.
A.In Arizona it is law that when (this is for a MANUFACTURED HOME) EXCAVATION DIRT WORK IS DONE & BEFORE HOME IS SET CALL PEST CONTROL THEY HAVE TERMITE SPRAY IT COSTS BUT IN THE LONG RUN IT IS WELL WORTH IT!!! but...make sure its not water...In other words be there DON"T GET RIPPED OFF!!!!
1.00Do you pay the Roof Contractor pror to installation?
Q.I am having a new roof put on my house. They are removing the 2 layers, installing new Plywood (Radiant Barrier) + paper & Shingle. Should I pay some money (1st disbursement) up front or wait until the roof job is completed. This is Homeowner insurance money. It will have to be inspected by the Mortgage-Insurance Co. before the 2nd disbursement is released.
A.No not until the job is done,
1.00Is there a roofer out there that can answer a question for me ?
Q.I have a lifetime rubber roof that is several years old, showing the wear at the seams with black lines. The company has subsequently gone out of business. Unfortunetly a party by the name of the"Greens" cleaned it for several years and had been using bleach on it which you are not supposed to EVER do, which has deterreated the roof to the point of seeing the black seam lines. My question is can you safely cover the roof now with a product that will not hurt the roof.
A.There are many liquid applied roof coatings that can be used over a rubber or epdm roof. Anything acrylic or water based will not harm your roof. A solvent based coating might.
You should try to find info on the original roof, to see if there is a re-coat recommendation. A local roofing company can also make a recommendation, and advise on the deterioration. Maybe black seam lines are a normal expected wear and are cosmetic only, or you only need a touch up repair.
A rubber roof does not last a lifetime. That is why the original installation company is out of business now. They probably have already re-organized as a new company under a new name, with plans to go out of business again in 5 years. This way the can offer outlandish warranties, provide poor installations, and avoid roof liabilities. Next time you should use a roofing company that has stayed in business for at least 15 years.
1.00How do you attach solar panels to the roof without increasing the chances for a roof leak?
Q.How are the panels attached? And what kind of roof is it easier to attach them to? If you have an asphalt roof, do they just drive the fastener into the roof? If you have a metal roof, are there clips that can attach the panels so that no hole has to be made?
A...............pull old shingles where the mounting brackets would go counter flash it ,re-shingle it .and seal it. its always done this way for anything installed on the roof ...unless its tile or something.
1.00How do I calculate how many pieces of metal roofing I need for my hip roof?
Q.We are building a house in South America. It is 47ft x 30 ft and will have a hip roof (8 or 10 ft. pitch). We are trying to figure out how much metal roofing we will need to cover it. Does anyone know of an online calculator or website where I can input the dimensions and it tell me how much metal roofing we will need? Or at least the dimensions of each of the sides of the hip roof? Thanks!
A.According to roof plan all the valleys and narrow section plus end of the roof edges all around and any connection to the wall if there's any ,need to be sealed by metal roof .If roof is a simple gamble roof only end roof edges and top of the roof on the ridge board.

A.There are some who will install in the attic or in a utility room where no one can see it, just an option for you to think about.
1.00How can I get my roof fixed its leaking and I believe its my connected neighbors roof that is the problem?
Q.Hi there I am a homeowner of a 2 family connected brick home. We have been having serious leaking problems for about a year and finally decided to fix our roof. We replaced it and the problem continues. Our connected neighbor, the roofs meet in a valley if you will..her roof is in decrepit shape. We feel because there are many holes in her roof that the water is running downhill on the underside of her roof. She has no damage to her roof and has refused to have her roof repaired.
What rights do I have to compel her to repair her roof. The damage keeps mounting in my home! How would I go about this? Any help would be appreciated. thanks!
A.My husband is a roofer and try calling in a roofing company to a look at it well at both roofs so you will know where it is leaking
